CBYA Film Night @ PKU – 15th May 2014 – CBYA in association with the Europe Society at PKU hosted a screening of ‘Ocean Heaven’ which was attended by Chinese and European students in equal measure.
CBYA celebrates Europe Day – 9th May 2014 @ 2 Kolegas Bar – On 9th May CBYA joined their Italian, Dutch, French, German and Irish counterpart organisations at 2 Kolegas Bar to celebrate Europe Day. There was live music from a range of Chinese bands and plenty of cheer.
Guardian Reporter John Kaiman talk- Tues 22nd April 7pm, Beilou Bread Bar – Jonathan Kaiman brought lively debate to Beilou Bread Bar, sparking discussions about why China’s foreign reporters give precedence to some topics — corruption, the environment and human rights, for instance — over others. Through an engaging narrative, John explained the challenges and rewards of pursuing a journalism career in Beijing, the unique role of the foreign press in Chinese society, and the unpredictable process by which ideas find their way into newsprint.
CBYA Christmas Party – 16th December @ The Bar, Sanlitun. An evening of festivities to bring Beijing some Christmas cheer!
Our guest speaker, Simon Cockerell from Koryo Tours provided us with an evening full of hilarious anecdotes and stories of his travels. With over 120 trips to the DPRK under this belt, he gave a fascinating and longsighted talk over a delicious Korean meal.
ACYA-CBYA Pub Crawl – 16th November 2013 @ Gulou Hutongs. A visit through multiple bars, from Zajia Bar in Gulou to the Drum and Bell tower in Houhai with our counterparts at the Australia China Youth Association.
CBYA Welcome Event – 17th September 2013 @ BLCU Duniya Muslim Restaurant 穆思林餐厅. Special Guest Speakers included Stuart Brown – FCO/British Embassy and Beijing Aardvarks Rugby Club Chairman and Adon Lawley from the British Council.
